Geurt Kets

Rozendaal Castle. Already in the early 14th century there was a fortified house here that grew into a large complex that served as one of the residences of the Dukes of Gelre. After 1579, the castle, each time by inheritance, passed into the hands of the Van Dorth, Van Arnhem, Torck and Van Pallandt families and the core became a vast land ownership. Geurt Kets (1799-1881) was Rentmeester at Kasteel Rozendaal. He started as a hotel owner, became Rentmeester, Mayor, Councilor, Municipal Secretary and landowner. The current town hall is his old residence. Recently a road was named after him in the village of Rozendaal: Google Maps -> Geurt Ketslaan.

The Lanfermeijer family

The Lanfermeijer family is originally from Germany. And lived in a farm near Holte. The farm was close to "Der Holter Landwehr" a double defense dike to defend the area behind against all possible enemy attacks from outside and also served as a separation from neighborhoods. The farm was named after this Landwehr and possibly someone lived there who had something to do with it, e.g. supervision or maintenance and was called a Meier. This is how the name Landwehrmeier came into being, which was corrupted in Lanvermeier, which became the original name.
